The wait is over! The highly anticipated 2025 Lower South West Football Tyrepower Manjimup League fixtures are to be released this week, with this season set to be huge. Round 1 blasts into action on the weekend of April 5 and 6, headlined by a clash between reigning Premiers, Boyup Brook, and Deanmill who finished just one game behind them on the ladder in 2024. The action actually starts on the Friday night, with reigning Colts Premiers Tigers, hosting Deanmill in a stand alone clash under lights at Rea Park.
There is no shortage of highly anticipated match ups, with a Grand Final rematch between Boyup Brook and Kojonup slated for Round 9 in Boyup Brook, before they clash again in Cougar territory in Round 16. The Johnson Cup is always a highlight of the LSWFL calendar as Imperials and Tigers clash, with the marquee match up taking place this year at Manjimup Recreation Ground in Round 10. The Todd-Cooper Cup is another big game on the LSWFL calendar, with Deanmill set to host Imperials on Saturday, May 10 as part of Round 5 action.
New Bridgetown League Coach, Morgan Price, will be looking to get the season off to a bright start, when the Bulldogs travel to take on Southerners in Round 1, while another new face to the senior coaching ranks will also be looking for a winning start in the Sunday game of Round 1. Travis Abbott has returned to Kojonup to take the reigns and while the club has no doubt been smarting from their 2024 Grand Final loss, Abbott will only be looking forward and the opportunity to start 1-0 when they take on Tigers.
After a big first two weeks, the competition breaks for Easter, before Round 3 sees a historic ANZAC Day clash between Tigers and Imperials. In conjunction with the home grounds of the LSWFL clubs, action will also move to Nannup in Round 8, with Imperials hosting Boyup Brook.
A further two weekends will see a pause in regular fixtures, the first being June 14 / 15, when a representative team will head to the Great Southern Colts Carnival. July 12 / 13 will also be a week off for LSWFL club competition, as the Lower South West return to the Nutrien AG Solution Country Championships.
Following the carnival, local action will return for what is likely to be a frantic last five rounds of action leading into the finals. Following action at Bridgetown, Tigers and Southerners across the first three weeks of finals competition, Imperials will host the Grand Final in the heart of Manjimup on September 13. Can Boyup Brook go back to back? Can Kojonup repeat their 2023 success, or will we see the likes of Deanmill and Imperials improve on their top four finishes from 2024? Perhaps a new contender will emerge, as the competition’s most successful club, Southerners look to add to their 20 League Premierships, or will Bridgetown be the bolters after winning flags in 2019 and 2021, punctuated only by the COVID cancellation in 2020. Finally the Tigers, fresh off three consecutive Colts successes, will be hoping the next generation are ready to flourish and turn their fortunes around at league level.
All will unfold when the season roars into life in early April, with the League competition proudly supported by Tyrepower Manjimup, the Reserves by Manjimup Retravision and the Colts by East Perth Football Club.
